Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead or assist other engineers in the production of proof of concept models for a variety of applications.
Sewing machines and stations, as well as fabric handling.
Lead/support engineers during development of prototypes from proof of
engineering test methods, data-driven decision-making, and innovative problem-solving concepts
To give engineering reasoning and design validation, use design and simulation technologies (CAD, FEA, CFD, etc.), fast prototyping (3D printing, quick-turn fabrication, etc.), and data logging and analysis in producing unique solutions.
Create designs for textile assembly manufacturing equipment (from components to a finished product).
Create documentation of prototype and production equipment design criteria and
engineering justification that supports design decisions and component selections (actuator size, sensor type, motor size, bearing size, etc.).
Develop fabrication drawings and complete BOM's for ordering prototype and production assembly equipment.
Troubleshoot prototype and production assembly equipment for reliability, quality, and throughput issues. Provide solutions based on engineering justification.
Collaborate with other mechanical engineers to grow cumulative team technical knowledge and skills, improving team efficiency and synergy.
Champion sound engineering practices and help mentor junior team members.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, technicians, and administrative personnel to accomplish product and project goals.
Required Technical Skills:
5+ years of 3D CAD modeling experience (SOLIDWORKS preferred).
5+ years of experience in industrial automation (high speed assembly machine design preferred).
3+ years of experience converting/developing ideas into practical and functional solutions that meet the business needs in a timely manner
3+ years of experience working with industrial grade automation components (sensors, motors, PLC's, etc.).
3+ years of experience in reviewing engineering designs and data for approval.
Extensive knowledge/experience of manufacturing processes, machining, and fabrication techniques and how they can be leveraged to enhance reliability and reduce cost.
Experience supporting project planning, budgeting, and task delegation.
Machining and/or fabrication experience.
PLC programming knowledge. (TwinCAT, Codesys, etc.)
Robot arm programming knowledge. (Fanuc, Epson, etc.)
Machine vision experience.
Seek deep understanding of technical problems
Experience handling anisotropic materials
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
