AL560: Sales Manager Location: Hoddesdon, HertfordshireSalary: £60,000Overview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Sales Manager on behalf of one of our clients. Reporting to the CEO who is in the role of acting Commercial Director, you will work within the existing Sales Management team working closely with Technical, Projects and Manufacturing teams. You will work with the existing team of Sales Managers and Technical teams that are approachable, focused on continuous improvement and growth.This role requires sound Sales and Business knowledge and a collegial/collaborative work style.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interact with customers proficiently and professionally to understand their needs and properly respond to enquiries and generate new inquiries.
  • Organise and travel to meetings with key customers within allotted region. (Virtual and F2F).
  • Work respectfully with the technical and operation teams to develop attractive tenders for customers that meet the companies need to deliver business objectives including profitability.
  • Develop pricing proposals and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Load new projects and prospects to the CRM system, update the system and create work tasks for the technical teams.
  • Attend priority calls to ensure the business is responding and reacting in a timely manner.
  • Attendance and leadership of internal kick off and handover meetings.
  • Attendance and representation at trade shows is an occasional requirement which will involve some travel and inconvenience within you own time.
  • Preparing tender paperwork ensuring the necessary risk, technical and legal reviews have been properly carried out. Including interface with Contract Manager to response to Terms and Conditions and agree Contracts with customer.
  • Working with the organisation on specific tenders to develop the best commercial and technical offering for the company and the customer.
  • Answering clarifications and queries as relates to inquiries and tenders.
  • Development of commercial and market plans for new markets/new products in conjunction with marketing, sales and leadership.
  • Lead or attend customer clarification meetings.
  • Development of new ideas to support company strategic objectives.
  • Updating paperwork including track record is an ongoing part of the job.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 year's direct work experience in a sales management capacity.
  • Proficient with MS office applications particularly MS Project, Word, Teams, and Outlook. Especially important is numeracy and proficiency in use of Excel.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team orientated, collaborative environment is essential. Along with Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute task in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • A degree or college diploma in the field of Business/Marketing Management, Project Management or Engineering, electrical or mechanical.


  • Exposure to a quality system such as ISO 9001 and experience in corrective action resolution.
  • Experience of cable/umbilical design or manufacturing or with oil and gas helpful industry.
  • Ideally some knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage to cover the growing middle east region.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, cables, offshore, oil and gas would be an advantage but not essential as training provided.
